Medium: Oil on paperboard
Kuehne's works reflect the dynamic and vigorous personality of the artist. His paintings are infused with great energy and color. After three years of painting in Spain, Kuehne made trips to Gloucester and Paris, where he was influenced by the Fauves and Nabis. The artist studied in New York with Chase and Henri where he developed into a great colorist. After many sojourns to Europe, he settled in Rockport (Cape Ann) and became a member of the Rockport Art Association. He lightened his palette later in life and is known primarily for cheerful landscapes, cityscapes, flowers and European scenes.
