Farm in Winter by Carl W. Peters (1897-1980), oil on cavnas, 23 1/2″ x 19 5/8″, signed lower right.
Known for his American Scene painting, Peters drew on influences from the Hudson River School, tonal-ism and impressionism. His scenes of winter were generally of the Genesee region near Rochester, New York. During the summer, he painted at Cape Ann, America's first art colony. Raise d on a farm, Peters often reflected his own Yankee tradition in a calm rural setting.
